I'm sure 10 years from now we'll all remember blogging as fondly as legwarmers and grunge music. I can hear the delightful anecdotes being created as I type. As promised, I've posted a picture of Dan's present from me - a personalized license plate... This will be proudly displayed on the back of his car for at least the next 10 years. Lucky Dan.

Hope everyone else had a great day - all was well enjoyed for us. Next - the New Year's house party... while it won't be messy for me, Dan has promised to more then make up for my lack of beverage consuming and I've promised him free reign in the liquor store... A group of militant hamsters tired of being caged with nothing by wood chips and toilet paper for company are starting a revolution. In fact, almost all the pictures I’m going to be posting won’t be of Cellsie – I’ll let you know when I get one but it won’t be until middle January at the earliest.

We had our first midwife appointment on Friday and we got to hear Cellsie’s heartbeat!!! I’m so proud – not only have I managed to grow a brain, but also a heart – damn, I’ve been busy… I also said ‘ciao’ to the first trimester and am officially in my 2nd trimester – doesn’t time just fly by! It’s quite nice actually because apparently from now on I’m supposed to have tons of energy and not feel barfy all day long – definitely something to look forward to.

Cellsie aside, we also completed our move this weekend, and not a moment too soon. My fantastic buddies Jill & Chad helped me move all our furniture on Friday night so I took them out for a late dinner. When I got back to the apartment at 9:30pm there was a drug bust going on, complete with cop cars and guilty faces… Needless to say, I grabbed a few key overnight things and belted over to our new place only to be greeted by the smell of fresh baked goods – oh how I love the ‘over 70 set’. I will post pics of the new digs as soon as we unpack our camera.

This is NOT Cellsie

This is not Cellsie, rather an image of what Cellsie probably looks like right now. For all you math whizzes out there, that means I’m currently 3 months pregnant. Not a lot to tell about the first trimester as I’ve slept through most of it. Some of these pregnancy books mention briefly that I may feel slightly more tired than usual during the first few months. Slightly more tired??? That’s like saying the Pope is slightly Catholic, or the sun is slightly warm to the touch. Thankfully, I’m just about into my 2nd trimester so I’m no longer requiring 14 hours of sleep a day – 12 seems to be sufficient.

Pregnancy aside, life is ticking along as per usual. We’re moving house this weekend. We moved into our current apartment 3 months ago not realizing that our soon-to-be neighbors would be drug dealers and deaf to their own voices (not a great combination in any situation). The only noise we’re likely to hear in our new place is that of a squeaky wheel on the neighbor’s zimmer frame. Perfection is living next to geriatrics.

Camping with the Cousins

We had a great time camping with Dan & Em last weekend. The weather totally cooperated (apart from when we put the tarp up and it rained - ironic but oh well). Dan & Em proved that they are indeed the fitest people that we know - they climbed Whistler mountain in - wait for it - 1 hour and 45 minutes!! They are hard ass to the extreme. Dan & I (having already climbed the mountain once - I won't mention how long it took us...) took the tram up and went for the summit with Dan & Emma - amazing views 360 views of the surrounding mountain ranges. WE decided to walk down to the base and might possibly have enjoyed ourselves, had it not been for Dan getting eaten alive by mosquitos, twisting his ankle and being stung by a bee... some guys have all the luck! We also did some great white water rafting in BC - all of us even jumped out of the boat into 4 degree water (and this time, Dan pulled me out, not the other way around!!). We even managed to see a black bear on the way home - probably the nearest we've ever been to one! The only downside to the trip was that Dan had some money and credit cards stolen from the truck - while we were sleeping right next to it!! Some people are real asses...
On a brighter note, Dan & I found an apartment to move into. It's been great living with the in-laws for the past year, but it'll be fantastic to have our own space.

Worlds Smallest Tent!!

So, I'm sure by now everyone knows about the worlds smallest tent that Megs brought with her on our recent camping trip to Jasper. I've finally managed to get a photographic evidence to this extent. Now there are two things that come to mind when considering this tent; 1. Megs actually paid money for this teeny, tiny stip of fabric and; 2. This tent is still being advertised as sleeping two (yes, 2) adults (yes, that's adults, not elves, babies or leprechans)! Why do tent manufacturers seem to think that the average adult is 3 feet tall and 40 pounds heavy? I'm sure Megs is not the first person that this has happened to (nor will she be the last) but for anyone out there who has had the misfortune of sleeping in one of these tiny wonders of the world - my deepest sympathies... I should probably add that Dan & I spent our camping nights spread out comfortably in a 4 person tent... sorry Megs & Jill!

The Wedding!

We had a great time at Dawn & Tim's wedding yesterday. The trip was amazing fun and it was great to get away for a break. Megs and Jill joined us for 2 days (with the worlds smallest tent!!). We climbed Whistler mountain (3 1/2 hours of uphill hiking) - there's a picture of Dan at the top. We also went and did a little walk around Edith Cavell - unfortunately we got a little too close to the glacier and I ended up with a rock falling on my head. Not the best experience of my life and I'm seriously tempted to start wearing a helmet - at all times. Freaked me out more then a little. I only ended up with a nasty goose-egg and broken sunglasses but needless to say, it could have been a heck of alot worse. I'm feeling pretty lucky about the whole thing! I also thought I'd add a picture of our new kittens (Cessna and Tarquinn).
